Outside of My Scrubs: New Year, New Me... Like for Real Though

My dress made a jingly noise…. that’s all I cared about. 😊

Nah but this was the first New Year’s that I went out….yes, you read that correctly. I’m 31 year of age, and I never felt the urge to ring in the new year like 95% of Americans: drunk and plastered to either pavement or a random person’s couch. I’m usually cozied up with my mom on the couch questioning, “Who are all these new white people on the TV?” and, “What are all these songs, is this actually music?” Either that or I’m finding an excuse to snuggle with my fur babies.

I’m usually against all things new year resolution-y. Like, why do you have to wait til the new year to make a change for yourself if you’re serious about said change? 🧐🤔 But because it seemed that God intended 2019 to be the lowest year of my life, I felt the need to not be so rigid and Virgo-ish and celebrate the demise of the year where Lucifer was trying to take over my life.

This dress was actually a size 14. A UK 14 at that! (I bought it on ASOS last year, it was the only size they had left). But I loved the ombre sequin pattern so much that I bought it then had it altered. I was supposed to wear it during new year’s last year, but like I said…that whole Lucifer thing, remember?

Well anyway, we made it happen this year. And even though I did a C-section literally 30 minutes before getting ready, I was surprisingly more giddy to walk into the party with a jingly dress than I was to be done with trash-bucket-2019. I even somewhat feel a new wave of peace somehow 🤔 . I’ll take that as a sign to hop on the “New Year, new me” bandwagon. And although that said bandwagon usually only has enough gas to fuel most people to January 10th before all their resolutions go to the graveyard, I actually do feel motivated to elevate my life, body, and conscious. I may even have some New Year’s resolutions for like, the first time ever in life 🤭. First time for everything right?
